Abstract

The need for Fresh groundwater has been continually rising because the accessible superficial water resources are unable to satisfy all our needs. The focus of the research paper was to identify the groundwater quality in Tehsil Liaqatpur, District Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab province of Pakistan, using Geospatial Approaches. Water samples were collected with the help of GPS and sent to a laboratory for testing. The lowest and the highest values of 8 water quality parameters including the pH, electrical conductivity, alkalinity, total dissolved solids, chloride, hardness, sulphate and potassium for each parameter, a unique groundwater quality map is prepared using ArcGIS 10.4 that represents the spatial distribution of groundwater quality in the study area. The spatial distribution is subdivided into three major categories i.e., poor, good, and very good. The results showed that the study area has approximately good quality of water while some Northern, Central, and South-Western portions of Liaqatpur represent the poor quality of water that need attention of the authorities. Analysis also showed that the groundwater of the region needs field treatment before being put into use.
